UPDATE- COAST GUARD CONDUCTS MEDEVAC; INVESTIGATES COLLISION | |

HOUSTON - The Coast Guard medevaced a 47-year-old man from the OSV Capt. Nick this morning after it reportedly collided with the a tanker ship, the Panam Carabe, Friday night. A rescue boat from Coast Guard Station Sabine was dispatched at 3:57 a.m., to meet the Capt. Nick about 10 miles off shore from Sabine, Texas. The crew arrived at the vessel's location at 5:48 a.m., after being slowed by heavy fog and extremely low visibility. The injured crewman was complaining of intense internal pain, believed to be the result of a collision the vessel had with a tanker ship Friday night. The tanker Panam Carabe reported the incident to the Coast Guard at 7:16 p.m. The collision occurred in the ship anchorage in Galveston, Texas. The crewman was taken back to the Coast Guard station and transferred to awaiting emergency medical technicians at 8:12 a.m.
Coast Guard units in Port Arthur, Texas, and Galveston are investigating the collision and injury. ### | |
