NEW ORLEANS - Coast Guard Station New Orleans crewmembers discuss search and rescue equipment with members of the Baton Rouge, La., Advocate Summer Symposium program here Tuesday, June 17, 2008.
The symposium program is an educational service developed to reward local teachers through various familiarization workshops. The Coast Guard volunteered to particpate in the program and demostrated search and rescue procedures with a rescue helicopter crew from Air Station New Orleans. Crewmembers from ATON team in Venice, LA., provided boat ride alongs. The symposium members were also educated on marine safety and pollutions well as the types of equipment used during small boat search and rescue operations.
