COAST GUARD ANNOUNCES SAFETY ZONE ON THE THREE RIVERS

 

 

PITTSBURGH - A safety zone impacting the Ohio, Allegheny, and Monongahela Rivers is scheduled to be put into effect on Saturday, July 26, 2008 by the U. S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit (MSU) Pittsburgh. 

Due to the Dollar Bank Jamboree Fireworks Display, navigation will be restricted the entire width of the rivers from mile marker 0.2 (the USS Requin Submarine) on the Ohio River to mile marker 0.2 (the Fort Duquesne Bridge) on the Allegheny River to approximately mile marker 0.1 (the abandoned bridge pier) on the Monongahela River.  The safety zone will be enforced from 9:00 p.m. until approximately 11:00 p.m.

Persons and vessels shall not enter into, depart from, or move within this safety zone unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port Pittsburgh or a designated representative.

(412) 670-4281.  All concerned traffic can contact the Coast Guard on the day of the event on
VHF-FM Channel 16.
