UPDATE: COAST GUARD SUSPENDS SEARCH FOR MISSING FISHERMAN

NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard suspended its search today for a missing fisherman, Joseph McCatan, 28,  after conducting multiple searches with negative results. 

A crewmember aboard the commercial fishing vessel, the Kelli Michelle, called Coast Guard Station Venice at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday to report that McCatan was missing.  He was last seen aboard the Kelli Michelle at 6 p.m. Sunday, when the vessel was in the vicinity of the Southwest Pass Sea Buoy. 

The Coast Guard conducted 11 searches, spanning an area of approximately 690 square miles, using HH-65C rescue helicopters from Air Station New Orleans and the Cutter Strugeon, homeported in Grand Isle.
