MSU Galveston to host Mexican delegation

HOUSTON - The Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit in Galveston, Texas will host an International Port Security delegation from Mexico Tuesday, August 19, 2008.

The visit is a result of the Coast Guard’s Homeland Security initiative to evaluate security practices for ships and port facilities. 

The information gained from these visits will be used to improve the United States’ own security practices and determine if additional security precautions will be necessary for vessels arriving from other countries. 

This program is part of efforts within the Department of Homeland Security to enhance international partnerships in order to create a more secure global shipping community.
