COAST GUARD MEDEVACS INJURED FISHERMAN

NEW ORLEANS- A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew medevaced a 45-year-old male from a fishing vessel about 65 miles southeast of Venice, La., early Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008.

A watchstander from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans received a call at 2:30 a.m. from Sector New Orleans reporting that a crewman working on a shrimp boat had been injured and needed assistance.  The injured man was reported to have abdominal pain and trouble breathing. 

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched a HH-65C rescue helicopter and crew to medevac the man and then transported him safely to the West Jefferson Hospital.
