|
MOBILE, Ala. - The Coast Guard assisted in rescuing a boater after his sailboat capsized in Mobile Bay, Thursday Sept. 4, 2008.
The crew of the Jayhawk passed the message to the crew of the motor vessel Allice Solomon, a decommissioned Coast Guard 41-foot utility boat contracted by ATC Mobile for training missions, that was conducting training in the bay to assist.
The crew of the Jayhawk located the sailboat and mariner and directed the crew of the Allice Solomon to the sailing vessel and one person clinging to the hull.
The crew of the Allice Solomon was able to safely rescue the mariner and tow his sailing vessel to the Fairhope Pier.
