Coast Guard searches for woman missing from cruise ship

MOBILE, Ala. — The Coast Guard is searching for a 50-year-old woman who reportedly went overboard from a cruise ship approximately 75 miles south southwest of Pensacola, Fla., Tuesday.

Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a call from the Carnival cruise ship Holiday at 12:04 a.m. reporting that a 50-year-old woman went overboard.  

Assets currently searching:

  • Coast Guard Cutter Cobia, homeported in Mobile, Ala.
  • Coast Guard Cutter Pelican, homeported in Abbeville, La.
  • A Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and crew from Clearwater, Fla.
  • A Coast Guard HU-25 Falcon jet from Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala. 
  • A Coast Guard HC-144 Ocean Sentry rescue plane from Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala.

An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast (UMIB) was also issued to mariners as a caution in the area.
