Coast Guard medevacs man suffering with stomach pains
MOBILE, Ala. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 50-year-old man from a shrimpboat in the Gulf of Mexico Sunday, June 28, 2009. The Coast Guard received the initial report at approximately 5 a.m. from the captain of the shrimp boat, Miss Mary II, that a crewmember onboard was suffering from stomach pains so severe he could no longer stand. Coast Guard Station Pascagoula, Miss. launched a 41-foot rescue boat and crew to assist. The crew expertly assessed the situation and determined that immediate medical transport to shore was necessary. The man was transported to Station Pascagoula where EMT's were standing by.
