HOUSTON - In less than five hours time, crews from Coast Guard Air Station Houston provided assistance to two shrimp boats. At approximately 7:50 a.m. today, an HH-65B Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Houston was called upon to medevac Lloyd Longoria, 39, from the Cindy G, a 68-foot shrimp vessel, 15 miles southeast of Galveston, Texas. Longoria suffered from three severed fingers, a broken arm and a dislocated shoulder and was transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. The Cindy G is homeported in Brownsville, Texas. Less than four hours later, the Air Station was called upon to assist the Miss Hayes, a 72-foot shrimp vessel, which was taking on water 30 miles southeast of Galveston. A Dolphin helicopter crew hoisted a de-watering pump to the four person crew on the shrimp boat. A 47-foot rescue boat from Coast Guard Station Freeport, Texas, provided a boarding team to assist the vessel in distress. The Coast Guard is escorting the Miss Hayes to Coast Guard Station Freeport. The Miss Hayes is homeported in Tampa, Florida. The four crewmembers were Clinton Hayes, Julian Dorsett Barney Roberts and Jimmy Miller, all of Florida. Media Note: Video footage of the hoisting of Mr. Longoria, and the boarding of Coast Guard personnel onto the Miss Hayes is available at the front gate of Air Station Houston at Ellington Field. ### | |
