Boat crews from Coast Guard Sector New Orleans conduct the first waterway patrols on the Mississippi River through downtown New Orleans, Sept. 2, 2008, after Hurricane Gustav. The crews were assessing the river for pollution, sunken vessels, hazards to navigation, and to verify that buoys and navigational markers were still intact.
